Alice took a deep breath and sat in her chair before going over her daily routine. She was about to start working when a notification appeared on her computer screen.
Alice initially believed it to be spam or a virus, but as she read the letter, her heart beat quickly.
“Sarah and Soham have been removed. We insist you become our boss’ mistress in exchange for 100 million dollars. Avoid involving the police because doing so could harm them. Await our subsequent communication.”
Alice was thinking quickly. She was at a loss for what to do. Who could she trust to hear what she needed to say? She needed to find a means to save her family, but she couldn’t call the police.
A coworker walked into her workplace as she was considering her next move.
“Hello, Alice. How are you? You appear to have witnessed an apparition, “Jake said.
To look composed, Alice quickly minimized the message on her screen.
“Just a strange note from a friend, that’s all. There’s no need to be concerned, “She told an untruth.
Even though Jake didn’t seem persuaded, he didn’t press the point. Instead, he started talking about a task they were both engaged in. Alice tried to concentrate on what they were saying, but her thoughts kept reverting to the statement on her computer screen.
Alice returned to her computer and attempted to interpret the message after Jake departed her office. Although she knew it was written in code, she could not decipher it independently.
While Alice knew that she needed to move quickly to save her family, she also understood that she needed help. She decided to tell her nearest coworker, Ana.
Alice prayed she could trust Ana as she dialed her number. As she awaited Ana’s response, she inhaled deeply.

Alice gave it some consideration. “That’s a wise decision. Would you please come to my office? Together, we can solve this problem.”
Of course,” Ana retorted. “In ten minutes, I’ll be there.”
Alice tried to concentrate on her task while waiting for Ana, but she was unsuccessful. She was unable to comprehend what her kids were going through. Are they injured? Scared? She needed to figure out how to save them.
The two ladies gathered around Alice’s computer and analyzed the message before Ana arrived. They attempted a variety of decoding methods, but nothing worked.
Alice became frustrated after spending hours looking in vain. She complained, “We’re not making any progress. What will we do, you ask?
Alice’s arm received a touch from Ana. “We haven’t given up just yet. Let’s approach this issue rationally. Who was capable of doing this? Who would want to abduct your family and why?”

“Excellent,” Ana said. “Start with them first. We can ask them questions to see if they have any information.”
A glimmer of optimism appeared to Alice. There may still be a chance to save her family. She felt she could tackle anything as long as Ana was beside her.

Alice and Ana started their inquiry by speaking with their dependable colleagues. They didn’t want to say too much about the abduction, but they asked if anyone had recently observed anything odd or suspicious.
They were shocked to hear from one of their coworkers, Mike, that he had observed someone poking around Alice’s workstation a few days prior. He couldn’t recall the person’s appearance, but he found it odd at the time.
Alice’s heartbeat picked up speed. This might be a hint. Perhaps something was left behind at her workstation by the kidnapper.
She hurried to her desk with Ana, and they started looking through her belongings. Ana caught sight of something odd after a while.
She held up a scrap of paper and said, “Look at this. It appears to be a chart.
Alice looked at the chart. Despite being crudely drawn, it appeared to depict a place in a rural enclave outside of town.
This might be it, Alice said. “They might be holding my family here,” I said.
Ana concurred. “We must travel there. We anxiously await the captors’ next move.”
Alice paused. “How do we get there, though? We can’t just turn up on our own, and we can’t call the police.”
Ana paused to reflect. “A private protection company employs my friend. He owes me something. Perhaps he can assist us.”
A glimmer of optimism appeared to Alice. “Let’s get going. Let’s locate my relatives.”
They contacted the security company with Ana’s assistance and arranged for a team to follow them to the marked location.
Alice was worried as they traveled to the isolated location. When they arrived, what would they discover? Will her family be alright?

Alice was surprised. “What? That is crazy. I never would-”
Alice, consider your family, Mr. Brown urged. “I’m giving you a chance to keep them. For a little company, 100 million dollars and their protection are offered. It’s a negligible cost to incur.”
Alice’s thoughts were racing. She was at a loss for what to do. She could not become this man’s concubine but could not stand the idea of her family suffering.
Ana took a move forward. “We won’t enter into any agreements with you. Mr. Brown, you are ill.”
The look on Mr. Brown’s face grew grim. “Alice, you’re doing it wrong. You have an hour to make a choice.”
He then turned and vanished inside the structure after saying that.
Alice experienced nausea. She was at a loss for what to do. She found it hard to imagine that her Boss would act in such a manner.
But she was aware that she needed to decide quickly. The security of her household was at risk.
Betrayal in the Boardroom

Mr. Brown was meeting with several other company executives in the footage. They were talking about their plans when the topic suddenly turned gloomy.
Alice must be removed, Mr. Brown said. “She is too intelligent for herself. Additionally, she has been probing us too much about our money.”
The other execs concurred by nodding.
One said, “We can’t have her excavating too far.” She might learn about our theft plan, I thought.
Alice had the flu. She couldn’t believe her supervisor and coworkers would act in such a shady manner. Additionally, they wanted to get rid of her to hide their traces.
Then there was a ray of optimism. She could bring down Mr. Brown and his allies and save her family without becoming a mistress if she could get this video in front of the proper people.
Alice and Ana started putting their renewed resolve to work on a strategy. Before time ran out, they needed to move quickly.
The Race Against Time

She took hold of her kids’ hands and led them to the back entrance while Ana followed closely behind. However, when they opened the door, they discovered that Mr. Brown’s goons had encircled them.
Alice’s mood changed. They were in a pickle.
But then she caught a glimpse of optimism. Over the kitchen counter, a window existed and was open.
She urged her kids to the window, saying, “Fast, through here.”
Ana followed closely behind them as they hurried through. Alice heard the goons banging on the door as they came out the other side.
She shouted, “Go, go, go!” as she ran for her vehicle.
The supporters set off after them in the car as they leaped inside. To get away from them, Alice sped around traffic like a crazy person.
They eventually escaped the goons and made their way to a secure area after what felt like hours. Even though Alice knew they couldn’t remain there for long, for the time being, they were fast.
The Final Showdown
Alice was aware that the moment had come to confront Mr. Brown finally. Because of what he had done to her family, she couldn’t let him get away with it.
She and Ana put in a lot of effort to amass proof against him, and they eventually had enough to convict him successfully.

They fought their way past the men, avoiding kicks and punches, until they returned to Mr. Brown’s direct line of sight.
Alice held him at gunpoint and threatened him, saying, “You’re going to suffer for what you’ve done.”
Mr. Brown, however, was not prepared to give up. He sneered, “You don’t have the guts to draw the trigger.”
After a brief hesitation, Alice realized how much pain he had caused her family. Mr. Brown was knocked to the ground when she released the trigger.
The only sound in the room was Alice’s labored respiration. She’d completed it. Her family had been spared.
